The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has urged businesses to sign up to its Early Warning cybersecurity service.
The tool could help businesses detect when they are about to be targeted by cybercriminals.
Here’s what you need to know.
What is the Early Warning service?
Launched in May this year, the Early Warning service “helps organisations investigate cyberattacks on their network by notifying them of malicious activity that has been detected in information feeds”.
The service filters “millions of events” using a variety of information feeds from the NCSC and trusted public, commercial and closed sources.
Registered organisations receive a cybersecurity notification when the IP and domain name information matches your business’ credentials.
Is my business eligible?
The service is free and available to any business that holds a static IP address or domain name.
Why should I sign up for the Early Warning service?
Businesses who use the service will be alerted to the presence of malware and vulnerabilities affecting your network before they turn into serious data breaches.
How do I register?
Businesses can register for the service here. You will need to open an account and provide:
- Your organisation’s name
- Your organisation’s public IP addresses and domain names
- The details of the contacts you wish alerts to go to (at least name and email address)
