The UK will usher in a “new era” of British trade by launching a multi-million-pound campaign promoting UK goods and services around the world, it has been revealed.
Known as the Ready to Trade campaign, the global marketing project aims to “inspire and reassure” buyers and inward investors that the UK is “ready, willing and able to trade with them”.
The campaign forms part of the Government’s package of support designed to help businesses transition out of the European Union.
This support also includes a series of trade conventions led by Government international trade advisors and representatives from the Export Hub facility to encourage businesses to export, as well as two new digital trading tools.
The first new GOV.UK tool will help businesses quickly find up-to-date product and country-specific information from across 160 jurisdictions. The second, meanwhile, will provide UK businesses with guidance on exporting goods to countries around the world. The “Check How to Export Goods” feature will also detail information on topics such as duties and customs procedures.
Commenting on the new tools and campaigns, International Trade Secretary Elizabeth Truss said: “Today we stand on the cusp of a new era in British trade. UK businesses trading with the world will be the bedrock of our future prosperity.
“We will negotiate free trade deals that empower businesses and make trade freer and fairer for all. We will showcase our world-class goods and services and welcome inward investors. Britain is back and is ready to trade.”
The announcement comes after the UK Government wrote to businesses to urge them to get ready for Brexit. Targeted at VAT-registered businesses trading with the EU or the rest of the world, the letters explain how to prepare for changes to customs, excise and tax arrangements.
